The Holocaust Cantata (Songs from the Camps) by Donald McCullough
Congregation Beit Tikva welcomes the outstanding choral group, Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico, to perform The Holocaust Cantata on Saturday evening, April 6 at 7 pm. The concert features music composed by Donald McCullough, with lyrics based on writings of prisoners in the camps. It is being performed in honor of the annual observance of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The first 100 family units or singles will receive a free copy of Karl Koenig's magnificent book, Fragments: Architecture of the Holocaust, An Artist's Journey Through the Camps. This award winning book retails for $75.00. Dr. Koenig is recently deceased and his wife, Dr. Frances Salman Koenig is donating the books in his memory. She will be introducing the Cantata program.
Polyphony of New Mexico was formed by Dr. Maxine Thevenot in 2006 and has performed throughout the state to critical acclaim. Performance highlights include concerts with the Santa Fe Concert Association; members of the New Mexico Symphony and the New Mexico Philharmonic.
