Real - A Reading
Written by Rodrigo Nogueira
Directed by Gabriel Torres
Real is a fugue in the form of a play. This fugue has two voices:
Dominique is a straight upper class white woman who lives in Manhattan with her husband and no kids. After reading a play she found in her apartment, she takes up playing and music again, using an instrument she was familiar with when she was younger.
Dominic is a young gay immigrant who lives in Manhattan and struggles with being an artist. He begins composing a fugue after he starts having a recurring dream.
Through their stories, writer Rodrigo Nogueira explores themes of gender, motherhood, masculinity/femininity, and race.
This show is being produced as part of The Tank's annual PrideFest 2018.
