Joint Redwood Empire & Golden Gate ASHRAE Chapter March Meeting - Commissioning for New and Existing Buildings with Ronald Wilkinson
"Commissioning for New and Existing Buildings" - The program provides an overview of the commissioning process from planning to occupancy, as developed by ASHRAE and adopted by LEED and others. Documentation such as the OPR, the BOD and the Systems Manual are defined and discussed, as are the tasks of design review, pre-functional verification and functional performance testing. Roles are assigned to the owner, commissioning agent and contractors. Web sites are provided for further learning and information is provided about Cx training and certification for those who wish to further their knowledge of the subject.  

Ronald Wilkinson, PE, LEED AP, CPMP, is Chief Engineer, Energy Services Division for the sustainable building services firm e4, inc. in New York City. Author of the first USGBC LEED and NYC Cx training programs, he also teaches as an adjunct faculty member of New York University and Cooper Union. Ron is founding chair of the AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Cx sub-committee, the AIA reviewer for the Cx provisions of the International Green Construction Code and an AIA Continuing Education Provider. He served on the team revising the National Institute of Building Sciences' "Whole Building Design Guide." He is an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer and founding recording secretary of ASHRAE GPC 0.2 and GPC 1.2 committees developing Cx guidelines for existing buildings. He authored the NASFA "Building Commissioning Recommended Guidelines" in 2003, NEEA's "Best Practices in Commissioning in Montana," in 2001. An author and member of HPAC magazine's editorial committee, he also has published articles in Environmental Design and Construction, CSE, ASHRAE and ASU magazines and other publications.
