Weekend to China
Take break from your busy schedule and visit China, right here in North Lawndale to support Chicago Urban Art Retreat!
Experience Chinese culture while sipping various tea's and coffee's, learning about the year of the snake, listening to cultural music, and sampling sumptuous homemade Chinese food and snacks! This interactive event is organized by international Chinese students from Illinois Institute of Technology who have been spending their time in Chicago volunteering for the Chicago Urban Art Retreat Center.
The Chicago Urban Art Retreat Center is a non-for-profit that strives to create a supportive and positive environment for under-represented people in a multi-cultural setting. Their programs include art therapy sessions with students at the William Penn Elementary School, the implementation of Peace Parks as part of the Ten Thousand Ripples project in Chicago, and a woman's residence with retreats.
