The Medicine Buddha is the source for the teachings of Ayurveda and healing traditions on the planet.
At the core of those teachings is an understanding that mind precedes body and that the Three Poisons of Ignorance, Attachment, and Aggression are the real sources behind the suffering we experience in body, emotions, and spirit. Join Robert Sachs as he explains these teachings of the Medicine Buddha.
This two session program will focus on the meditation on the Medicine or Healing Buddha. The purpose of the meditation is to address the root causes of all illnesses, whether they be physical, emotional, or spiritual. Such a meditation can have very profound effects at all levels of our health and well-being.
At the first class you will learn about the cosmic and human history being the tradition of the Medicine or Healing Buddha, the Three Poisons, what they are, and what the intention of the meditation is. You will begin Experiencing the Meditation.
At the second class there will be a short review from previous session, and you will learn to do a simple breathing exercise that will help with meditation and stress in general. Then there will be demonstrations of how meditation works, and finally you will be Practicing the Meditation.
Robert Sachs is a clinical social worker and Ayurvedic health care instructor living on the Central Coast. He has taught the meditation on the Healing Buddha for over 30 years. He is the author of The Ecology of Oneness.
