Almost, Maine by John Cariani
On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend in this delightful midwinter night's dream. Almost, Maine is a play by John Cariani. It comprismes nine short plays that explore love and loss in a remote, mythical almost-town called Almost, Maine. It premiered at the Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine in 2004 where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim. OTG Wests production of Almost, Maine is the first production of the expansion of Ophelia Theater Group back to Southern California. This production features actors from the New York, off-Broadway cast from OTG, Astoria.
