Digging for Dinner--Quilcene 2018
Join the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee and WA Department of Fish and Wildlife on June 30th at Quilcene Bay WDFW Tidelands at 10:45am to find out about harvesting steamer clams. Bring the family and learn about different types of clams, where to find them, how to harvest safely and sustainably, and the basic rules and regulations that assure delicious clams this summer and into the future. Co-sponsored by WSU Jefferson County Extension.

Registration is free, but you must register to attend. Directions and details will be sent to all registrants.  You will need a current WDFW shellfish license, Discover Pass, bucket, boots and digging tools for the event.  WDFW Shellfish Licenses can be purchased on-line at or one of the following retail outlets:  Port Ludlow Marina, Olympic Equipment Rentals in Port Hadlock, Port Townsend Fuel Dock, Brinnon General Store, or Quimper Mercantile, Henery Hardware, or Sea Marine in Port Townsend.  Children 14 and under do not need a license.

This public event is free.  A requested donation of $10 per family will help support future marine education programs.  Register early. Space is limited. For more information, go to

A second Digging for Dinner program is being offered on Friday July 27th at Dosewallips State Park. That program covers harvesting oysters and and a variety of clams. Go to for more info. Registration will open for that event by mid-June.
