James Hatch Author Event
In this compelling and inspiring story, Hatch writes about his experience as a special ops Navy SEAL senior chief. He was part of an attempt to rescue a rogue soldier (Pvt. Bowe Bergdahl) and was badly shot, an injury that ended his career in the military. The rest of the book details what it was like for him to come home to the country hed spend defending and the process of recovering from a very serious injury. Hatch talks about the power of love from his family, friends and soldiers, which helped pull him out of some very dark moments. The incredible thing about Jamess story is its universality. The lessons he learned and writes about apply to more than those involved in the military as we all struggle with setbacks in life, and that the power of facing our fears and asking for help is all part of going through those rough patches.
Anderson Cooper has also blurbed the book, saying "There are plenty of books full of daring wartime exploits, but I haven't come across any book that reveals with such honesty and openness, the 'second war' that Jimmy Hatch and other special operators must fight when they come back to a society that seems so alien to them, a society completely divorced from the purity of combat."
The Associated Press also posted a piece about Hatch around the time of the Bergdahl trial, if you want to read more: https://www.apnews.com/aad5bef14ca94edc8176e8839634cfc5
