DIRECTIONS - The official venue address is 621 Huntington Avenue (right at the Longwood Medical Center green line stop), but the building is actually on Tetlow Street. Look for signs directing you to the Pozen Center! It's right by the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Boston Latin School. See map close-up at left.
ABOUT THE POETS:
Joshua Bennett is an award winning performance poet from Yonkers, NY. He has recited his original work at events such as The Sundance Film Festival, The NAACP Image Awards, President Obama's Evening of Poetry and Music at the White House, the ESPN documentary One Night in Vegas, the Clinton Global Citizen Awards, and alongside former U.S. Poet Laureates Billy Collins and Rita Dove. He is currently pursuing a PhD in English from Princeton University, where is a Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellow.
Nate Marshall is a poet and teaching artist from the South Side of Chicago. He was the star of the award winning full-length documentary "Louder Than A Bomb" and has been featured on HBO's "Brave New Voices. He is an MFA candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Michigan. His work has appeared in Muzzle, Learn Then Burn, Vinyl Poetry, The Spoken Word Revolution: Redux, on Chicago Public Radio and in many other publications. Nate is the founder of the Lost Count Scholarship Fund that promotes youth violence prevention in Chicago. He is also a rapper.
Angel Nafis, a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a Cave Canem Fellow who has represented the LouderArts poetry project at both the Women of the World Poetry Slam and the National Poetry Slam. She is an Urban Word NYC Mentor and the founder, curator, and host of the quarterly Greenlight Bookstore Poetry Salon reading series. Her work has appeared in FOUND Magazine's Requiem for a Paper Bag, Decibels, The Rattling Wall, Union Station Magazine, GirlSpeak Webzine, The Bear River Review, and MUZZLE Magazine.
