About
Teresa (Paulina Garcia) has been a live-in maid for most of her life. When the family that she has been working for for decades dismisses her, she must travel alone to meet and work for a new household. Introverted and shy, she takes to the road to travel to San Juan from Buenos Aires but at her first stop, she loses her luggage. Thinking that she left it in the van of the smooth-talking Miguel El Gringo (Claudio Rissi), he decides to help her find what she has lost.

At its heart, The Desert Bride is a road movie that takes us through the Argentinean Pampas to explore the relationship between two outcasts that are trying to find their way. When the careful Teresa starts to let her reservations go and indulge in the unexpected, she shines with a self-assured wisdom that will leave you cheering for the simple triumphs of the human spirit.

Rissi brings an easygoing charm that El Gringo uses to draw Teresa out while still allowing the intensely private woman her own space. And Garcia traces that emergence with rich humanity, tapping into a well of warmth that Teresa appears always to have kept somewhat guarded. The film is another excellent vehicle  following Gloria and her first American screen work in Ira Sachs Little Men and the Netflix series Narcos  to shine a light on a remarkable talent.  David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter
