The Chess Castle is located in the big red Waterbury Building at 1121 Jackson St. NE just west of the intersection of Broadway and Central Avenue. Parking is available in a small lot in front of the building, along the street, and in a large lot behind the building. When you enter the building, follow the Odd Socks signs to The Chess Castle - Suite 134.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Wine, beer, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, fun people and an energetic, intriguing presentation that will inspire and engage your brain!

Roger Hale, former CEO of The Tennant Company who has served as the chair of many nonprofits including the Walker Art Center, Public Radio International, and Ploughshares Fund, will talk about his more than avid interest in chess. He wonders if such an interest might be called an obsession and if such an obsession would be treatable.  .

Lisa Elias has been forging metal artwork in her (sweet) studio for over 22 years. She's a designer, a welder, a fabricator inspired by traditional blacksmithing techniques. Her work has been integrated into our City's sidewalks, businesses and landscapes. Lisa will talk about her experience using a power hammer for the first time and her ongoing love for hand crafted objects made with fire.
