An Evening with Cokie Roberts
On Tuesday, May 15th, veteran journalist Cokie Roberts will visit Christ Church Preservation Trust to host its spring fundraising gala. The event -- a cocktail reception and silent auction -- will solicit funds for the Trust, a secular nonprofit that manages the historic properties of Christ Church in Old City, Philadelphia.
Christ Church Preservation Trust tends historic preservation needs and operates the Tourism program for Christ Church (founded in 1695), and its two burial grounds (2nd and Market, 5th and Arch), which hold more signers of the Declaration of Independence than any other property in America.
The Trust also manages Neighborhood House, an arts and community space located across the street from the church. Through Neighborhood House, which opened in 1915 to serve the Old City community, the Trust administers a theater and facilitates the use of the Christ Church campus by the artistic community, social service agencies, and tens of thousands of school students who engage almost daily in lessons on Colonial-era history and character education.
