Black & Tan, with The Department of Social Affairs, presents MixedTape Madness. This special night celebrates our different and shared identities - and how we mix, weave and blend together to create our vibrant communities. Enjoy a night of soul, R&B, funk, electronic, disco, and hip hop sounds. Basically, we want you to groove and feel all the feels. On deck are activists, advocates, and artists Madame Gandhi (LA) and Seattle's own SassyBlack to take us through the night. We welcome all communities to come and dance it out. This event is housed in the speak-easy swank of The Grotto at the historic Rendezvous!
About Madame Gandhi
Kiran Gandhi, known by her stage name Madame Gandhi, is an electronic music artist and activist based in Los Angeles. Having gained recognition as the former drummer for M.I.A. and as the iconic free-bleeding runner at the 2015 London Marathon, Madame Gandhi now writes music that elevates and celebrates the female voice.
SassyBlack is a space aged singer, songwriter & producer. This Goddess of electronic psychedelic soul & hologram funk explores the concepts of sound through deep compositions. With roots in classical & jazz, her voice is often compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Erykah Badu & Georgia Anne Muldrow.
