PLEASE NOTE that the audience will travel through the home, including going up and down stairs. Seating is available throughout, and audiences will be asked to stand for no longer than 10 minutes at a time.
Each performance will last 45 minutes. Audiences of all ages are invited to take part in the Light Hand journey.

DESCRIPTION
In Light Hand performers appear and disappear, leading you on an adventure through knitted scenery and vignettes of dance. Each performer wears an individual speaker, creating shifting layers of music that beckon you from room to room. See contemporary dance and large-scale textiles up close as you explore, discovering dancers with handheld lights who reveal hidden layers and moments of magic.

Light Hand reframes the history of women's domestic arts as fully-embodied expressions of creativity and selfhood. Using a technique called "arm knitting" that engages the whole body in movement, the performers create, dance with, and dismantle large-scale textiles.

Follow the seven performers of Synapse Arts as they weave through the Gunder House at Berger Park, which is rarely open to the public. Witness the transformational impact of women building and changing an historic home together, illuminating freedom in the familiar. Light Hand is an opportunity for all ages to see that dance can happen anywhere, and invites you to reimagine the possibilities of home, craft, and womens work.
