Soaking WET - Vicky Shick Wash / A Variety Show
Wash/ A Variety Show is Vicky Shick's new performance to be shown at the Soaking Wet Series in May 2018. For years, Shick has been enthralled by both the making of and by the mini-portraits inherent in solos and duets. Now, for her second time at The West End Theatre, she is unabashedly presenting an evening of just these little secret dances. Shick's passion continues to hover around a thicket of nuanced physicality revealing the fragility and grit of the performer. In many ways, she is a slave to detail. Simplicity, clarity and exaggeration are combined here to encourage the possibility of imagined character and story. Shick's attempts at intimacy with the audience and each other are enhanced by the quirky, private charm of The West End Theatre. Joining Vicky Shick will be Donna Costello, Meg Harper, Jon Kinzel, Jennifer Lafferty, Marilyn Maywald Yahel, Omagbitse Omagbemi, Gabrielle Revlock. Set piece is by Swiss artist, Seline Baumgartner; the film is by photographer, Anjola Toro.
