Documentary Film Screening: The Chinese Exclusion Act
Award-winning documentary filmmakers Ric Burns and Li-Shin Yu show a portion of their film "The Chinese Exclusion Act," followed by a discussion moderated by Li Wei Yang, curator of Pacific Rim collections at The Huntington. The film explores the important connections between the Chinese Exclusion Acta federal law, enacted in 1882, which prohibited all immigration of Chinese laborers until its repeal in 1943and civil rights, immigration, culture, and American identity.
This event is held in the Rothenberg Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m.
