Hearth Broom: A Blacksmithing & Broom Making Experience
A hearth broom is a beautiful and functional piece to have in any living room--one that even a beginning blacksmith or broom maker can show off with pride. On day one, you will craft a decorative handle in the blacksmith shop and on day two you'll weave broom corn onto it. Other small projects, such as a hook to hang your broom on or a fire poker can be added, as time permits.
Blacksmith Rod Spotts and broom maker Walter Hand have demonstrated and taught at Landis Valley for over a decade. Their work is also for sale in the Landis Valley Museum Store.
Class is part of Landis Valley's 2018 Summer Institute.
