Amanda Nicastro is a writer/comedian/actress living in New York City by way of Charlotte, NC. She hopes that her work encourages others to be bold and to tell their own weird stories. Seriously, no matter how weird.
Amanda took an improv class at Upright Citizens Brigade seven years ago, got sucked into the comedy scene performing long form improv and writing sketch, and hasn't looked back since. She's written and produced five sketch shows, three solo shows, and been a guest writer or performer on countless others at various theaters in NYC including UCB, The Magnet, The People's Improv Theater and The Tank. Amanda has a couple festivals under her belt including The International Orlando Fringe Festival, SoloCom Festival, Frigid Fringe Festival, The Penn Station Area Sketch Festival, and The PIT's Indie-pendence Day Festival.
If you would have asked college aged Amanda, "Is your dream to write and produce your own shit?" She would have said, "Heck, no! I want people to cast me in their stuff so all I have to do is memorize the lines." But life throws you curveballs sometimes. She's somewhat well adjusted to this new self definition. Amanda is currently working on a web series about a woman who lives with a pigeon for a roommate.

BOOM Performance: Im Just Kindneying

Does donating a kidney make you a hero? Even though Amanda has a certificate dedicated to her heroism, she's not quite so sure. On the other hand, she loves the attention being a hero provides her so she wrote a solo show about all the containers of pee she had to carry on the subway. I'm Just Kidneying takes a whimsical look into the process of living kidney donation and pokes holes into the idea of what it takes to be "hero material."
