Cultivating your practice, deepening in dharma
PLEASE NOTE, THE COURSE HAS 12 PLACES. IF IT SAYS SOLD OUT AND YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE ON A WAITING LIST, PLEASE CONTACT Mannie on 07952 662 552. Thank you
This 6 week next steps course will be an opportunity for those with some experience of meditation to develop their practice further with the support of teachings from the (Buddhist) Insight Meditation tradition. Beginners are also very welcome, as are graduates of mindfulness courses.
Why do we practice meditation? Where do I get stuck in practice, and what might help? How can practice support my flourishing and relate to what is important to me in life? How might it help me belong more fully and yet move more freely in the world? With the support of teachings from the Insight Meditation Tradition we will explore these questions and how meditation can support a path to freedom.
The themes for the course will include
affirming and reaffirming our own individual reasons for interest in meditation practice
the power and subtlety of intention
working with body and breath energies
learning from the wisdom of the body
cultivating the heart
ethics as joyful practice
interbeing and the power of community
The sessions are also likely to include opportunities for pair work and there will be invitations to take the explorations into your own practice at home and a small amount of reading to supplement your learning if you wish.
Weeks 1, 3, 4 and 6 will be small group sessions in parallel with the Bristol Insight Tuesday night sitting group, that meet in the same building.
Weeks 2 (April 17th) and 5 (May 15th) will be joint evenings with the sitting group and offer the opportunity to deepen the exploration of some of the themes we will be exploring in the small group.
