Automating Solar Control and Natural Ventilation for the Design of a Bioclimatic Facade
Description: This course will provide participants with an understanding of how to increase visual and thermal comfort (and the related benefits for building occupants) by automating the combination of natural and artificial light. We will discuss heating and cooling strategies including the effects of seasonal and regional variations. We will also cover how tying all of these elements together will reduce overall building energy consumption.
Learning Objectives: 1. Define solar control, Ecliptic Path, Solar Irradiance, and Luminance 2. Understand Bioclimatic Architecture 3. Discover how natural light and ventilation affect the health of a building's occupants 4. Determine the benefits of automated shading
