Spring Dramatic Play: "Other Desert Cities"

When Brooke Wyeth returns home to Palm Springs for Christmas, she is unable to relax into the prickly, yet loving, embrace of her wealthy California family. Brooke has been in continuous rebellion against her more conservative parents. She is anxious about revealing her publishing plans for her new memoir which will dredge up a pivotal and tragic event in the familys history. Family members take sides in the encounters that follow and some are conflicted about sharing the open wound.

This is a scintillating, and in parts dark, comedy. The play premiered Off-Broadway in January 2011 and transferred to Broadway in November 2011, marking the Broadway debut of a Baitz play. The play was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Michelle Peterson, Director for Other Desert Cities, has been on our stage numerous times as an actress and has directed some of our Second Stage performances. This is her first Director role for Main Stage.

The Opening Night Party on April 13 is hosted by JJs FishHouse.

This play contains strong language.

Sundays 2 p.m. April 15, 22 & 29, May 6. Tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for seniors/students/military.
