Carver Commodore with Chasing Ella
CARVER COMMODORE(Florence, AL)
Payton Pruitt and Phillip Blevins, founding members of the folk rock band The Bear & the Bride, felt the winds of change coming as they watched each of their other band mates artistic visions and changing geographical locations begin to naturally dissolve one of the Florence, Alabamas most promising and energetic young acts; even after releasing their well-regarded debut full length album. These circumstances begged the question: should the two of them continue to carry the torch of the band they lovingly formed with their friends or forge a different path altogether? Deciding to lean into the tension of this question, Pruitt and Blevins carried on the name for a season. But during this process, a new creative instinct beckoned them to journey in a different direction, and in turn, their new indie rock incarnation was birthed.
Enter Carver Commodore.
Taking the name of Pruitts enigmatic and superstitious great uncle, Pruitt and Blevins have christened their new vision with a sense of fun and brash southern charm to honor their bands namesake. Where The Bear & the Bride was forthright and direct about matters of life and faith, Carver Commodore kicks down the abstract back door and lets the ghosts inside dance in the backyard as the cicadas pop quarters in the Rock N Roll jukebox. Distilling their ever-rowdy live show into this new sound, they have simply used The Bear & the Bride as a launching pad for a brand new rocket that is steadily catching up to bands like Colony House, Alabama Shakes, and The Strokes.
CHASING ELLA
Tennessees Chasing Ella make melodic, often guitar driven alternative rock. Formed in 2013, the group originated in Grand Rapids, MI as a project of writer, singer, and instrumentalist Jason Wozniak. They released their first EP titled In Motion in 2014, a self released record that served as a learning ground for Wozniaks production ability.
In late 2014 Wozniak put the group on hold and teamed up with drummer Aaron Krak and guitarist Cole Suddarth to form Constellations, a Nashville based rock group. Constellations released two records, An Honest Heart and Waves. Their second release Waves was produced by Dave Elkins of Mae at Forty-One Fifteen Studios in Nashville. Constellations later toured around the midwest and east coast with MAE in 2017.
Following the release of Waves, Wozniak left the group to focus his attention back on Chasing Ella with a new found drive and passion. He used the knowledge he gained in Constellations to self engineer and produce Chasing Ellas first single in 3 years, Your Moment. Taking influence from 80s legends Toto and Tears For Fears, as well as more contemporary groups like Young The Giant and Bleachers, Your Moment is an exciting taste of whats to come. Lyrically, the song gives a voice to the fear of the future while sonically exploring a vast depth of keys and spacey sounds, wrapped up in a guitar driven, alt-rock package.
