Gallery Suite Jazz Series - March
Welcome to Season 6 of the Gallery Suite Jazz Series.
Since its inception in 2012, the Gallery Suite Jazz Series has been host to forty eight sold out artist showcases of forty nine featuring a celebrated list of regional, national and international artists. Now in its sixth season, the series continues its tradition of offering the best venue entertainment in downtown Lansing performed by notable artists in various styles of the jazz idiom.
The Gallery Suite Jazz Series is hosted by International recording artist and saxophonist Phil Denny and takes place inside La Fille Gallery; downtown Lansing's most unique and intimate artist-owned studio space. The hip, urban, raw venue artistically designed and decorated by Internationally celebrated and multi-discipline artist Tiffany Marie posesess wood ceilings, hardwood floors and exposed brick walls which creates the ideal backdrop for you and your guests to experience a night of lively entertainment with an emphasis on diversion though pure musical artistry. With a limited seating capacity, those present will feel as though the music is being performed just for them.
This month, we welcome singer, songwriter and actress, Beth. She is the daughter of Johnny Griffith, the legendary and Multi-Grammy® Award-winning pianist/keyboardist. He was an original member of the Funk Brothers, Motowns in-house studio band that created the famous Motown Sound. At age 5, she began learning how to play the piano alongside her father, and it was evident then, that music was in her DNA. She has had the opportunity to tour with 8-time Grammy® Award-winning songstress, Anita Baker as a background vocalist for five years, performing all over the world in some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, Radio City Music Hall in New York, and arenas in South Africa, Nigeria, Trinidad and throughout the Caribbean. Additionally, Beth has shared the stage at the "Tribute to Motown" show at Carnegie Hall, alongside Dionne Warwick, Anita Baker, Martha Reeves, Melba Moore, Boyz II Men, Dennis Edwards, Bebe Winans, and Paul Shaffer as a featured lead and background vocalist. The historic sold-out concert was produced and directed by renowned Music Director, Ray Chew. She later began touring with 3-time Grammy® Award-nominated, Motown Recording Artist, KEM in 2013, providing background vocals as well as performing duets and featured solos around the world. Beth is a background vocalist on KEMs Intimacy, What Christmas Means and Promise To Love albums, and continues to tour with him. Learn more about Beth at https://www.bethalwayssings.com.
