The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Join us for a Phoenix Film Festival kick off screening event along with a celebration for the release of the young adult novel Mercy Rule.

We'll be screening The Perks of Being a Wallflower followed by a discussion of the film hosted by The Arizona Republic's Bill Goodykoontz and award-winning author Tom Leveen.

Tom Leveen will also have copies of his new book Mercy Rule available and he'll be on hand to sign them.

Here's the trailer for Tom's book

And here's the trailer for Perks of Being a Wallflower

Perks of Being a Wallflower is based on the novel of the same name and opened to critical acclaim in 2012. With an awesome cast and a great soundtrack, it's a perfect way to kick off the PFF season and celebrate a new book release.

SYNOPSIS:
Socially awkward teen Charlie (Logan Lerman) is a wallflower, always watching life from the sidelines, until two charismatic students become his mentors. Free-spirited Sam (Emma Watson) and her stepbrother Patrick (Ezra Miller) help Charlie discover the joys of friendship, first love, music and more, while a teacher sparks Charlie's dreams of becoming a writer. However, as his new friends prepare to leave for college, Charlie's inner sadness threatens to shatter his newfound confidence.

ABOUT THE NOVEL:
Danny cant get a fair shake from teachers or his parents, or even Cadence, the wide-eyed bundle of energy hes falling in love with. Brady pretends to want to be an NFL quarterback, but really just needs a square meal and a roof over his head. Drea knows only one way to make the pain of neglect go away; Vivi feels under siege by girls who dont like her type; and football star Donte has to quell his affection for the one girl in the entire school he absolutely cannot have while trying to protect Brady from Bradys own worst impulses.

Thats just the first day of school.

Mercy Rule follows this diverse cast of authentically drawn teens as they ask the question somehow unique to modern American culture: Do you see me? Because if you dont . . . Ill make you.
