Lisa Geduldig and El Rio Present...
Comedy Returns to El Rio!

Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show (every 3rd Thursday of the month) co-produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig and El Rio. The show, now in its 9th year, takes place at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District and showcases an eclectic, multicultural mix of intelligent, progressive comedians from the Bay Area and beyond.

(Please note: The show now starts at 7pm, rather than 8pm.)

The Thursday, February 15 show features Kurt Weitzmann, Francesca Fiorentini, Nathan Habib, Victor Escobedo, and Lisa Geduldig.

Kurt Weitzmann, a finalist in the 2015 San Francisco Comedy Competition, has appeared on Comedy Central and commanded numerous appearances in SF Sketchfest and The Vancouver Comedy Festival. Kurt has also written, produced and performed numerous shows at The HBO Workspace and the The Comedy Central Stage. Kurt is an award-winning playwright and filmmaker and his documentary #BeRobin The Movie, about Margaret Chos homeless outreach campaign inspired by the philanthropy of Robin Williams, won two Best of Festival awards in 2016. His play Win a Few, Lose a Few, won the California Playwrights Competition in 2017. His new film, The Good Bus is available to stream at www.boilingfrogentertainment.com/films

Francesca Fiorentini is host and producer of Newsbroke on AJ+ and is behind such viral hits like White Fragility in the Workplace and How to Be The Perfect Rape Victim. She is also a correspondent with Exploreron the National Geographic Channel. As a stand up comic, she has been featured at SF Sketchfest, the Comedy Comedy Festival in LA, and in seedy bars throughout the Bay Area.

Nathan Habib started doing stand up when he was in 8th grade in Palo Alto. He has performed at the iconic Fillmore, is a favorite at the SF Punchline, has opened for comics including Josh Blue, Eddie Pepitone, and Robert Kelly, and has showcased at San Francisco Sketchfest. Nathan decided to advance his comedy career by moving to New York City where he quickly gained the respect of his peers resulting in regularly performing at the New York Comedy Club, Carolines on Broadway, and other clubs. He performs and co-produces a show called "Bring Your Friends Comedy" at the Lantern in Greenwich Village, inviting top-notch comics from New York City and around the country. He also produces and co-hosts his podcast Be Happy What Ever The F*** That Means with his brother, Roni Habib. www.NathanHabib.com

Victor Escobedo has been doing comedy since 2004. His comedy career is made up of mainly open mics with occasional momentous shows that have fallen onto his lap, allowing him to perform with comics including the late great Robin Williams. He's the founder of "The Comedy Workout Room an open mic that seeks to create a place for local comics to work on their material and network with other comics. It had a three-year run at the now defunct Pepperbelly's in Fairfield, just ended a two-year run at a Vacaville venue, and is currently looking for a comedy home in Solano County. Victor is the owner of Papalote Mexican Grill and Papalote Salsa, which sells and distributes Papalote Salsa throughout the Greater Bay Area and Northern California. Victor will be turning 50 this year. Just what has he learned in these past 50 years? Nobody cares, but he'll share some of it anyway at our show. When he talks about his age he likes to think of it as 50 shades of 50.

Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ (which celebrated its 25th Anniversary in December!); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion. She has recently started another monthly comedy show, Comedy at Ashkenaz! on the second Thursday of the month at Ashkenaz in Berkeley. Lisa moonlights as a bilingual (Spanish-English) publicist.
