National Touring Companys Production of Billy Joels Hit Broadway Musical Movin Out
A specialist in the music of Billy Joel, Mr. Abrams fronts a Billy Joel tribute band known as The Strangers. It was his work with that band that earned him an audition for Billy Joel and Twyla Tharps Broadway musical Movin Out in the summer of 2008. He performed the starring role of the Piano Man in the 2008-2009 national tour of that show, becoming one of only eight performers authorized by Billy Joel for the part.
In addition to his solo work in New York, Mr. Abrams is attached to two Broadway musicals as substitute music director (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Book of Mormon.) He also works as a record producer at Cove City Sound Studios owned and operated by former Billy Joel saxophonist Richie Cannata. His current production client is Troy Ramey of NBC-TVs The Voice.
