Campo Santo & Laney Theatre Department Present: Frederick Douglass Now by Roger Guenveur Smith
In celebration of the 2018 Frederick Douglass Bicentennial,
Berkeley native Roger Guenveur Smith returns to the East Bay with his internationally acclaimed solo performance of FREDERICK DOUGLASS NOW.

Smith bookends Douglass classic 19th century texts with original narrative to create what the Los Angeles Times has called
a personal benchmark for this remarkable artist.

Smith adapted his Obie Award-winning A HUEY P. NEWTON STORY into a Peabody Award- wining telefilm.
His acclaimed "Rodney King" is currently streaming on Netflix. Both NEWTON and KING were presented at Laney College, where FREDERICK DOUGLASS NOW will play on Wednesday 14 February, at 7pm, observing Douglass 200th Birthday.

Campo Santo will produce in association with Oakland native Steven Adams, partner with Smith and Bob L. Johnson in Luna Ray Media.

In further collaboration with Campo Santo, Smith is writing and directing CASA DE SPIRITS,
to premiere at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts this May.
