A Skype Talk with Dr. Daniel Ellsberg on April 28
Dr. Daniel Ellsberg is known as the whistleblower who published the Pentagon Papers. While working as a high-level defense analyst at the military think-tank the Rand Corporation, he furnished top-secret documents to the New York Times and Washington Post and exposed decades of US government deception of the American people about the extent of US involvement in Vietnam. The recent Oscar-nominated drama The Post centers on Daniel Ellsbergs 1971 actions.
Ellsberg is also fondly remembered by local residents for his activism in the late 1970s during the protests that took place at the Rocky Flats facility northwest of Denver. On April 28, 1979, Dr. Ellsberg joined about 15,000 people protesting the plants transport and mishandling of the radioactive materials used in nuclear weapon manufacturing.
Dr. Ellsberg will speak to an audience at the Unity Church of Boulder on the 39th anniversary of the blockade He will videoconference remotely (via Skype). He had planned to speak in person but is unable to travel to Colorado at this time. Audience members will have an opportunity to submit questions for Dr. Ellsberg to answer after his talk.
