Event
Platinum "XVI" Dinner by Yakima Enological Society
PLATINUM XVI
Did you read the Platinum judging article in the Yakima Herald Republic, January 11, 2018 Scene section? What a great lead-in to our own YES Platinum event. The Platinum committee has already started planning for our Sixteenth Annual Platinum Dinner which will be held on April 14, 2018 at the Yakima Country Club. Our goal is to continually try to do better than the previous year, so this year we will be pouring 12 of the top 20 wines from the 2017 judging.
Some other highlights will be:
The judging this year awarded Maryhill were awarded twelve Platinum awards, followed by Reustle-Prayer Rock with nine and Smasne Cellars with eight. Gehringer Brothers from Canada and Brian Carter were awarded six each and La Frenz from Canada and Palencia Winery received five. Wines from all of these big winners will be poured at our dinner.
This year we will be presenting courses of Albarinos and Petit Verdots. This will be first time these varietals have been showcased at our dinner. In addition we will have courses of Sauvignon Blancs, Sangioveses and Ports.
We have included a reservation form since previous Platinum dinners have sold out by the end of March. This year we are expanding our invitation list to include wineries that have participated in the past. So call your friends and start putting your table together as we expect another popular sell out. Remember that all the money raised at this event goes to scholarships for Pacific Northwest students studying Enology or Viticulture. Since our initial event in 2002, we have raised more than $70,000 for these scholarships. Your attendance will support the wine industry, wineries and winemakers of the Pacific Northwest. Please join us for the celebration.
