In the Time of the Butterflies
Based on a true story, "In the Time of the Butterflies" tells the life story of the Mirabal sisters and their political awakening as activists in the Dominican Republic under the Trujillo regime. Known by their secret code name, "the butterflies," they inspired resistance cells across the country until their untimely demise at the hands of government-backed assassins. Told through poetic language and lyrical staging, the play celebrates the bonds of sisterhood and the strength of women in the face of oppression.
