Irish Hills Walk
The city has set aside miles of hills, valleys, and views of the Chorro, Los Osos and Edna Valleys, Cuesta Ridge, Morro Rock and the Pacific Ocean. At various times in the spring there are gorgeous displays of wildflowers. The trail goes through woodlands, fields and coastal brush. The dirt trail turns into a smooth paved road and then a very rough, uneven rocky trail. The terrain is all uphill much of the way and requires good health. The uneven, rocky part of the trail requires good, sturdy shoes or boots. Participants may turn back and return to their cars at any point if desired. The trail is easy to follow.
To participate in this hike, you should have good health, some stamina, and bring sunblock and layers of clothes for cold, fog, wind, and sun. You should wear long pants and shirt for brushy trail, and sturdy shoes or boots for walking on uneven rocks. Water, water, water is a must (a snack is good too).
Hikers must stay with the group at all times. INDIVIDUALS MUST SIGN A WAIVER IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. The waiver will be available at the beginning of hike.
Your hike leader is Pete Sarafian, who is a PhD Nuclear Engineer with experience in the nuclear navy, commercial nuclear fuel production, and commercial nuclear power plant construction, startup, and operation. He has had over 40 years' experience in the field. For the past 15 years Pete's main hobby has been environmental restoration (much like immigrant farm labor).
Meet in San Luis Obispo at the west end of Madonna Road at the dead end/ turnabout. Park away from driveways or mail boxes.
