PhxFringe - SHOTS: A LOVE STORY
Progressive Theatre Workshop's SHOTS: A Love Story is a semi-autobiographical abstraction of a company members experience with addiction. The themes are addressed in non-traditional ways ad the show purposefully steers clear of sentiment and self-pity n order to objectively explore addiction as a disease. An after school special this is not. The show played to sold out houses and received a great deal of attention from local critics, dependency organizations, and audience members at its world premiere in the fall of 2007. As a result of its success, PTW was awarded a significant grant from p.a.v.e., the arts entrepreneurship initiative from ASU, in order to remount the production in March 2008 at t a larger venue. The show was also named a 2007 Top Ten Phoenix Production by the East Valley Tribune.
