"Tin Pan Alley" - A Broadway Bound Theatrical Production
Tin Pan Alley was a genre of American popular music that arose in the late 19th century from the American song-publishing industry centred in New York City. Specifically, from the street of its origin - 28th between Fifth Avenue and Broadway.
On any given afternoon, the sound of pianos furiously pounded by so-called song pluggers, could be heard, many of which birthed such iconic composers and musical stars as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Jerome Kerns.
During its heyday, "Tin Pan Alley" was at the very center of American Popular Music, as energetic composers, lyricists and publishers collaborated with the industries finest singers to create musical magic.
Our show draws its characters from this historical golden era and features such prominent musical figures as Eva Tanguey, Harry Von Tilzer and Marlyn Miller.
This is our 29th production performed by our immensely talented students between the ages of 10 and 18 from Bergen, Hudson, Essex and Passaic Counties. They are truly wonderful, extremely devoted to musical theatre and this years production is sure to be entertaining and educational.
