What is the Diabetes Prevention Program Group Lifestyle Balance Program?

The DPP GLB is a one-year lifestyle program specifically designed for people who are prediabetic or have a high-risk of type 2 diabetes.  Classes meet weekly starting January 18 2:00pm for one hour for twelve weeks, then move to bi-weekly for two months (April and May), followed by monthly classes to finish the year (June through December).  You will develop proven healthy living skills to delay or even prevent type 2 diabetes and enjoy a high-quality healthful life.  This program not only decreases the risk of type 2 diabetes by lowering A1C and fasting blood glucose numbers into the normal ranges and lose weight, but also aids in lowering cholesterol and blood pressure values and helping people who have Metabolic Syndrome fall out of that category.

Session topics include nutrition, developing healthier eating habits, creating and achieving weight loss and physical activity goals, physical activity, stress management, social events, holidays and vacations, social and self-sabotaging, emotional and stress eating, self-defeating thoughts, slips and relapses and so much more. All goals will be slow, progressive, achievable and sustainable.  This is not a diet, but a lifestyle program.
