Marley Dias Gets It Done (And So Can You)
Marley Dias, the powerhouse girl-wonder who started the #1000blackgirlbooks campaign, speaks to kids about her passion for making our world a better place, and how to make their dreams come true!
In this accessible "keep-it-real" guide, Marley explores activism, social justice, volunteerism, equity and inclusion, and using social media for good. Drawing from her experience, Marley shows kids how they can galvanize their strengths to make positive changes in their communities, while getting support from parents, teachers, and friends to turn dreams into reality. Focusing on the importance of literacy and diversity, Marley offers suggestions on book selection, and delivers hands-on strategies for becoming a lifelong reader.
Each ticket comes with a pre-signed copy of Marley's book. Attendees are welcome to take their picture with Marley after the event.
In an effort to help Marley with her mission to bring books featuring black female protagonists to school libraries we are partnering with Friends Central in accepting donations of new children's books that will go to Anderson Elementary School in West Philadelphia.
We will have a selection of Marley's favorite books on hand if you wish to purchase a copy for yourself or to donate to Anderson. A percentage of all book sales from this event will be used to continue to build a diverse library for Anderson Elementary School students.
