Traveling with Angels
J. René Peña, a native of Gallup, started acting at UNM where she earned a Theater Arts Scholarship. She has performed in several dinner theater productions, toured America as one of Cinderella's nasty step-sisters, appeared at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and entertained audiences in Germany and Italy where she won a Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in The Diary of Anne Frank. René filmed in the Oval Office alongside President Clinton and John Ritter in a Lifetime movie A Child's Wish. She can currently be seen on ABC's Scandal, she had a recurring role as Gladys the Social Worker on Private Practice and some of her other credits include Southland, Dexter, Parks and Recreation, Young and the Restless and Secret Life of the Am Teen. She has also appeared in numerous national commercials including Cheerios, Home Depot and J.C. Penny. Traveling with Angels is her first venture into writing, and the public response has been overwhelmingly positive!
