Abstract
Well-to-well communication is usually observed in horizontal wells with multiple closely-spaced hydraulic fractures and is often caused by, and in response to, interactions between the created fractures in the same well, and with fractures in adjacent offset wells. This communication manifests itself through an increase in the pressure of the passive well, sometimes transfer of fracturing fluid and proppant, and often by early or delayed production interference.
This presentation discusses how to identify the causes of these interactions, and explores ways of minimizing or eliminating their mechanical, chemical, or physical damage to the wellbore and reservoir.
