Market District Tour (Faneuil Hall, Haymarket Market, & Boston Public Market)
Love European markets? Seattle's Pike's Place Market? Philly's Reading Terminal? San Francisco's Ferry Building? Then this tour is for you!
Boston Foodie Tours' ("BFT") focus is our city's rich history, culinary education, and "award-winning best eats", including those of Best of Boston winners, James Beard Award winners, food institutions, and the like. BFT has been awarded the 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, and maintains a 5-star guest rating on Yelp.
Boston's Market District, extending three short blocks from Faneuil Hall to the indoor Boston Public Market, incorporates the old and the new. The old includes the 300-year-old Blackstone Block, where our forefathers gathered in pubs; a nearly 200-year-old outdoor "farmer's-like" market; and the oldest, continuously-running restaurant in the country. The new includes the 2015-opened Boston Public Market, with its nearly forty local food vendors. A visit to Boston simply wouldn't be complete without a stop here.
History first! We'll begin our tour at at one of the most visited Marketplaces in the world: Faneuil Hall. Following in the footsteps of John F. Kennedy, Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, and other well-known historical figures, we'll visit the Great Hall, a town meeting hall where protests and debates have taken place from pre-Revolutionary times to today. With a history lesson behind us, we'll move on to food-filled Quincy Market, where we'll enjoying Boston's #1 pizza (arguably), and will visit TWO Shark Tank winners, one of which your sweet tooth will love!
While it will be too early in the day to haggle over prices (part of the fun), our next stop is outdoor Haymarket Market, where even Julia Child was known to shop. Together, we'll explore the "soul of the market" by visiting with the vendors, hearing their stories, and sampling their goods. If you're a cheese lover, you're going to love the Market's award-winning hidden gem.
Next, we'll bring you indoors to the new Boston Public Market, where we'll meet with several of the nearly-forty local food vendors, and will enjoy small tastings throughout. Representative stops: a favorite New England doughnut, roasted nuts, fresh honey, wine and hard ciders (soda for the under-aged), flavored salts, drinking vinegars, and Boston's 2016 Best of Boston Fish Market winner. Stops include two of Thrillist's 2016 Food Bucket List honorees.
Our tour will wind down with a visit to a multiple Best of Boston winner that's also a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives favorite. Our final stop? Iconic chowder at a restaurant rated by Forbes as one of the ten classics in the world. *And* it's the only restaurant in the country designated a historical landmark.
Join Boston's tastiest food tour as we "Stroll. Sample. Savor. Repeat." our way through the city's best eats.
Note: Tour stops subject to change.
