Introduction to Beekeeping
In this full-day class, we will be a broad overview of the theory and practice of the raising of honeybees. We will explore a bit the history of the practice, which dates from prehistoric times, but emphasize the current aspects of beekeeping as a hobby, food source, and complementary practice to farming. We will review the importance of bees as pollinators, their habits, varieties of beekeeping equipment, the useful things they produce (honey, pollen, propolis), as well as types and control of bee pests and diseases.
