Self- Hypnosis to Create the Life You Want

Hypnosis is one of the most natural states of being, as each of us moves in and out of hypnotic "trance" multiple times a day. When we are driving a car and get lost in thought, yet somehow still manage to keep the car on the road, that is a trance state. Similarly, when we watch a movie and temporarily become so absorbed in it that we forget we're in the theater instead of part of the action, that too is trance. Without realizing it, we can also create a type of trance by telling ourselves we cannot achieve what we hope to, such as believing good things just don't happen to us. This type of trance can get in the way of making the necessary steps to create positive change. The good news is that tools like imagery and self-hypnosis can help us to change the trance, increase our confidence in our ability to do things, and ultimately, create a life that looks more like we want it to.

This workshop will be lead by Dr. Traci Stein.

The fee for this workshop is $35 and space is very limited. Proceeds for this event will benefit Hurricane Sandy Relief.

Biography: Dr. Stein is licensed clinical psychologist, certified clinical hypnotherapist, and health educator who works with general psychotherapy issues, such as stress management and making healthy behavior changes (adults), as well as issues related to chronic pain and medical illness (children and adults). She is also the former director of integrative medicine in the department of surgery at Columbia University Medical Center, and have expertise with regard to the potential benefits of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapies use.
