What if media actually reflected the people who comprise our world? The Establishment aims to answer that question. Run entirely by women and dedicated to providing a platform for marginalized voices, creators, and stories, The Est. is a multimedia news + culture site as diverse as the world we live in.

While the holidays can be magical and full of wonder... that isn't always the case. Sometimes they're sad. Or stressful. Or hilarious. Or involve the intimate use of a banana.

So in honor of this occasionally heinous, sometimes lovely, and always whirlwind-y time of year, we invite you to gather 'round and celebrate the season Establishment-style
that is, with some of the most amazing writers in the Bay, libations, and delicious snacks.

We've got:
Carol Hood! (Award-winning writer, aspiring novelist, and comic writer)
July Westhale! (Award-winning poet, essayist, graphic novelist, and creative writing teacher)
Andrea Grimes! (Writer, editor, comedienne, and executive producer of the resistance podcast Traitor Radio)
Alexandra Naughton (Writer, author of 6 books of poetry, and founder and editor-in-chief of "Be About It" Press)
Ingrid Rojas Contreras (Columbian essayist, novelist of the forthcoming book "Fruit of the Drunken Tree," and a book columnist for KQED)

Listen up as each of these wordsmiths tells a true tale of holiday splendor. Or sorrow. Or sex. Or all three. (Hopefully all three or at least sex and splendor.)

And that's not all! The brilliant artist Sophia Foster-Dimino will be illustrating the stories AS THEY'RE BEING TOLD IN REAL TIME. (Because she's a proper wizardess.)
