3rd-4th February 2018: Weekend Advanced Bicycle Maintenance Course
This 16-hour course will run 10am-6pm on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th February 2018.
It starts with the basics and progresses into advanced bike mechanics; we will be completely servicing a bike over the 2 days. You will have the option of working towards a Cycling UK (formerly CTC) accreditation in advanced cycle maintenance.
If you have your own bike you can do all the repairs on that so by the end you will have a fully serviced bicycle (service worth at least £90, and now the knowledge & skills to repeat this many times!), or you can use one of our bikes to practise on. If you don't have a bike then we may be able to provide you with one at low cost that you can keep at the end of the course please get in touch for more info.
NB if your bike is carbon or is worth a lot of money, for insurance reasons (and peace of mind), we may advise you to borrow one of our bikes to carry out the servicing on.
Cost: The minimum cost price of this course is £125 for 2 days with qualified instructors (Cycling UK Tutor, City & Guilds Level 2 Mechanic). The prices are listed on a sliding scale, because we invite those who can afford more than £125 to make a contribution to the Bike Mill Bursary Scheme, a pot of funds to make our courses more accessible (more info below).
If you wish to gain Cycling UK (CTC) accreditation in Advanced Cycle Maintenance, there will be a further £20 charge that covers the administration costs of certificates from Cycling UK. This optional extra can be paid for at the course.

The Bike Mill Bursary Scheme Leeds Bike Mill is a community bike project; we try to make all the things we do accessible to as many people as possible by keeping prices low or where possible, free. One of the things we do is run a pay-it-forward style bursary scheme on our courses, where we ask those who can afford it to contribute to the pot, which enables us to offer places to people who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend. There's no obligation to pay it forward but all donations are gratefully received! In 2017, 24 people chipped in making 6 places available on our 2 Day course.
