SHIFT, Dance. Arts. & Media's CREATE 2017 Gala
SHIFT will host a gala in honor of our Artists in order to raise funds for our second Spring Season! SHIFT, will be presenting 2 excerpts from the 2018 Concert to show what the company has been working on, Love Legacy, choreographed by Artistic Director, Cherri Nelle Thompson, and a new work choreographed on the Company members by Choreographer, Rohan Barghava. We are proud to share the proceeds of this event with one of our new partners in Puerto Rico called Tercera Ola (Third Wave). Tercera Ola is a non for profit founded by Camille Arroyo to promote Wellness, Creativity, and Community through Farmer's Markets. After realizing her crucial role in Hurricane Maria's aftermath, she immediately began to use the non-profit to provide relief and recovery to the community. For over 3 weeks, Tercera Ola raised funds that helped to provide good quality food and goods to severely aected areas.
As the need to feed families persists, Tercera Ola has been there to provide emotional support, guidance and empowerment as relief to the community. They hope to have the support of the Dance and Yoga communities to help raise funds for Camille's continued mission in Puerto Rico with Tercera Ola. SHIFT has decided to join with the organization, and will continue to collaborate with Tercera Ola in the aftermath of the devastation.
It is very important to our world to reach out to help others in the wake of events that negatively impact us. We can do that through Art; and we can change the world little by little! Let's do what we can to make that change.
