Alexandros Louloudis at GCC
Greek-born drummer, percussionist, composer Alexandros Louloudis has chosen some of his favorite pre-WWII poetic works from people such as Andreas Empeirikos, Nikos Kavvadias, Maria Polydouri, C.P.Cavafy, and Rebetika-song lyrics written by lyricists such as Markos Vamvakaris, Vasilis Tsitsanis, Roza Eskanazi and Manolis Chiotis as well as traditional Greek-song lyrics from Smyrna, Macedonia, Thrace and Crete. In this project, Mr. Louloudis, is paying tribute to the art of his beloved country as well as the art of improvisation, which he has been practicing for more than ten years. The project is bridging two art forms (music and poetry) and two time-periods (beginning of 20th century and beginning of 21st century) which allows for a mixture of moods and messages.
