About Henry Avignon:
Avignon studied photo journalism, literature, psychology, and has a masters degree is in creative writing. He is a conceptual photographer, Photosculptor, and a poet with a primary interest in innovating new process approaches to traditional tools and materials to broaden his survey of natures talent for shaping lightness and darkness into intimate varieties of material and immaterial signatures of energy. Henrys work is often classified as art and he is an artist. So, the classification of art is valid to some degree, but to Avignon it doesnt adequately encompass its journalistic intentions beyond that of decorative object.
About At the Crossroads: Activating the Intersection of Art and Justice":
At the Crossroads: Activating the Intersections of Art and Justice, which was founded by Rachel DeGuzman and is produced by her company 21st Century Arts with collaboratives of organizers, began with a singular event, but has evolved into an ongoing initiative. Employing various forms of performance, presentation, organizing, and engagement coupled with entrepreneurial, innovative and experiential approaches this initiative will help to expand the regional anti-racism movement that is rigorously underway in other sectors of our community to the art and culture landscape.
The primary image in this post is a panel work by Henry Avignon from the "Impropoganda" collection titled "Help Me." It is a 3' x 6' acrylic and India ink on panel board.
