Odd Socks Lindy Dancing and Biomimicry
Come move your body and mind at our upcoming Odd Socks! Friday evening, December 1 with International Lindy dance organizer Shane Allen and Professor and Head of the School of Architecture, U of M Marc Swackhamer
Each will speak briefly about their passions. Then we turn it over to the audience and our presenters to find similarities and make weird connections!
WHAT TO EXPECT: Wine, beer, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, ping pong, foosball, fun people and an energetic, intriguing presentation that will inspire and engage your brain!
Shane Allen, musician and software engineer, loves to swing dance. For the past few years, he's been an organizer for the Midwest Lindy Fest, as well as the world's largest swing dance camp in the Mecca of Swing--Herrang Sweden. He'll talk about his passion for the lindy and maybe demonstrate a few steps.
Marc Swackhamer, professor and Head of the School of Architecture on the U of MN, teaches on the topic of hypernatural design. With Professor Blaine Brownell, he co-authored the book Hypernatural: Architectures New Relationship with Nature in 2015. Marc will speak about the unlikely juxtaposition being explored by architects and others between architecture and biology.
