Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show (every 3rd Thursday of the month) co-produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig and El Rio. The show, now in its 9th year, takes place at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District and showcases an eclectic, multicultural mix of intelligent, progressive comedians from the Bay Area and beyond.
This months show, which takes place on Thursday, November 16, features Karen Ripley, Bob McIntyre, Joe Nguyen, Angie Krass, and Lisa Geduldig.
Karen Ripley a queer comic and improv master and has been featured on LOGO TV. She is a veteran of LGBT comedy and began her comedy career in 1977 (40 years ago!) in the heyday of the LGBT comedy movement in San Francisco. She has performed at hundreds of Pride events as well as The Fringe and Diva Festivals. Ripley recently premiered her one-woman show, Oh No, Theres Men On The Land to rave reviews at The Marsh Berkeley. Bob McIntyre is a San Francisco based waiter, comic, and occasional actor who is currently binge watching his recently purchased 38-disc, 325-episode Mary Hartman Mary Hartman box set. He currently sees everything in shades of avocado green, mustard yellow and burnt orange with a waxy yellow buildup. He is single.
Joe Nguyen, subtle but sharp, laid-back yet engaging, is a smart slacker beloved by audiences for his easygoing delivery and good writing. At home in all venues from clubs to cafes, Joe is a regular at the Punch Line and other Bay Area clubs as well as a member of local group Nightlife on Mars.
Angie Krass is back after a long hiatus. Writer and performer of Sex, Biscuits, Jesus and Me and Its a Scratch and Sniff World she is hitting the stage again. Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as Superior Southern Fried Comedy, she is the true Mississippi Madam of Mayhem!
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer whos the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ (celebrating its 25th Anniversary this December!); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion. This month she is starting another monthly comedy show, Comedy at Ashkenaz! on the second Thursday of the month at Ashkenaz in Berkeley. Lisa moonlights as a bilingual (Spanish-English) publicist.
Must be over 21 as it's a bar.
Tickets on sale on a sliding scale basis: $7 to $20.
