A Very Cherry Christmas
Enjoy the spirit of the holidays with A VERY CHERRY CHRISTMAS at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts in Carmel. The program features some of the areas finest actors performing a number of classic (and not so classic) Christmas favorites.
In act one of this rollicking evening, Mark Shilstone-Laurent performs David Sedaris' THE SANTALAND DIARIES, a hilarious one-man show that chronicles the life of a hired elf in Macy's Santaland, complete with wacky shoppers, stranger-than-fiction Santas and over-sexed co-workers.
The second act features local favorites MaryAnn Schaupp-Rousseau, John Newkirk, and Julie Hewitt performing a series of holiday readings. Pieces from the works of Truman Capote and OHenry provide the sentimentality Christmas traditions call for, but a reading about a doomed Christmas pageant from Rita Mae Browns RUBYFRUIT JUNGLE goes straight for the funny bone. Poems of the season round out the evening.
