Macaroon & Beer Pairing With Modern Times

We wanted to do something different for San Diego Beer Week this year so we came up with a Macaroon & Beer Pairing featuring housemade macaroons and Modern Times beer.

We'll feature the following pairings:

Fruitlands | Passion Fruit Macaroon

Fruitlands is tart, fruity, & frighteningly delicious. The sour, salty base beer lays down the funky refreshment, while a heavy dose of passion fruit and guava turns the whole thing into a wall-to-wall tropical fruit fiesta. It's a marvelous mix of elements that collides with your mouth like a fruit-filled asteroid of flavor traveling at the supersonic speed of party. 4.8%

Spaceship Earth | Lemongrass & Ginger Macaroon

Our relentless pursuit of the juiciest of hop profiles led us to this outrageously tasty pale ale. Big, mouthwatering flavors of tropical fruit and citrus explode from the glass, fairly commanding that the drinker return to its mysterious, hazy depths for further exploration. 5.2%

Blazing World | Vanilla & Beer Caramel Macaroon

This beer is the stickiest of the icky. It's a luxuriously hoppy amber loaded up with intemperate quantities of Nelson, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, which are some of the fruitiest, dankest hops sweet, sweet money can buy. Despite its amber hue, Blazing World is pleasingly dry, sporting a lightly bready malt backbone that serves as platform for the huge & complex hop profile. 6.8%

City Of The Dead | Mexican Chocolate Macaroon

This groundbreaking export stout is brewed with house-roasted, bourbon barrel-aged coffee. Yup, bourbon barrel-aged coffee. This unique process imbues our coffee with the incredible flavor and aroma of a freshly emptied bourbon barrel, which carries over magnificently into this rich, chewy beer. Unlike any other beer in the world, City of the Dead is immensely flavorful and unforgettably delicious. 7.5%
