Monitoring & Match Support and Match Closure: It Really Matters!
MWW is excited to sponsor this opportunity to delve deeper into two areas of the Elements of Effective Practices--Monitoring &Support and Match Closure. Throughout this half-day training, participants will be asked to reflect on their program and identify how they can place new practices in their own programs.
Monitoring & support is critical to mentoring not only to create satisfying and successful relationships, but also to adjust to changing needs of the mentee and mentor, and to ensure safety. Support ensures ongoing advice, problem-solving, training, and access to resources for the duration of a mentoring relationship. MWW will share materials to bolster your program practices in monitoring and support.
When it comes to Match Closure, the research is increasingly clear that a positive closure experience is an essential aspect of a mentoring relationship. Indeed, the ending of the relationship is the last big mentoring moment. MWW will share early findings from a national study of early match closures. The study led by Drs. Renee Spencer and Tom Keller provides preliminary answers to key questions:
Why matches end
Reasons for early endings
How match relationships end
How participants experience these endings
We will also highlight match closure practices in recruitment, pre-matching training, and monitoring and support.
